Cape Comorin, now known as Kanyakumari was quite different in 1960. The Thiruvalluvar Statue and the Vivekananda Rock Memorial were yet to be built. But the fishermen working from Kanyakumari Beach were there if in somewhat more primitive craft. Richard spent some time filming here so I have split it into two parts

A windy day in 1960 Cape Comorin. It's not the most interesting sequence but the long shots show the marked differences in the landscape.
Cape Comorin Temple
This short sequence was originally in the middle of the fisher folk footage. It would have been a short walk from the beach to this place. The scene in Richards's film has a lovely and serene look to it. But all that has changed. Sadly, these days, it is no longer a temple. It sits on the busy South Car Street in Kanyakumari, hemmed in by modernity and a shadow of its former self. The main part of the building looks to be storage flanked by an Antique shop and a tea stall.
A search for 'Ajantha Antiques Kanyakumari' on Google displays a photo of this building today. It is no longer a temple and looks a little sad to me.
